The Forest of the Righteous (Yaar HaKedoshim) – Eshtaol / Ksalon

About

All the information about the Forest of the Righteous (Yaar HaKedoshim) – Eshtaol / Ksalon: If we follow the directions for getting there, we will reach a relatively quiet place for a picnic that not many people visit. For me, the attraction there is the Cave of the Brit (Bnei Brit), and especially the ascent from it to the top of the mountain right above it—the climb is very difficult, but not impossible (I climbed it with two children around 7 years old, energetic and above average hikers, who reached me without any problem—their bigger issue was the steep but safe descent; then I had to stop and slow them down so they wouldn't slide into a ravine). The Cave of the Brit is a cave in the streambed of the Ksalon stream, built as a memorial site. Along the entire streambed, the names of the different communities are mentioned, and this is the main site. The place also serves as a parking area and a starting point for hikes in the forest. The area is pleasant and shady even on relatively hot days. From the cave, a green trail goes south toward the Ash Scroll memorial monument on Mount Shfay (Har Shfei). The view from the top of the mountain, at a number of points along the ascent, was especially impressive and amazing; therefore, I recommend it for anyone in reasonable condition and who walks well, slightly above average. The ascent is to the left of the cave (when facing it) and begins with well-organized steps. You can also reach the top of the mountain by car (via Route 395) and thus avoid the steep descent. At the top of the mountain, at the point where you meet the car, there is also a pleasant parking area for a picnic. At the site you can find an organized route through the Cave of the Brit and the Ksalon stream: the route of Nahal Karmila and Nahal Ksalon.
