Which coast of Mauritius should we choose for our stay?
The west coast (Flic-en-Flac, Wolmar, Tamarin) is famed for its sunsets, sheltered lagoon and dolphin swims; the north (Grand Baie, Trou aux Biches) is the liveliest area, with restaurants, shopping and excursions; the east (Belle Mare, Trou d'Eau Douce) is wilder, breezier and more private, perfect for premium resorts that face the lagoon; the south (Bel Ombre, Le Morne) draws kitesurfers, hikers and UNESCO heritage lovers. For a first visit, the west and north offer the simplest balance.
