Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before booking your hotel in Jerusalem.

Which neighbourhood should we choose in Jerusalem?

For a stay combining historic sites and comfort, pick the Mamilla / King David area (next to the Old City), home to the city's palace hotels (King David, Waldorf Astoria, David Citadel). For a more moderate budget, the modern downtown around Ben Yehuda has well-located 3-4* hotels. For a religious stay close to the Kotel, choose hotels in the Jewish Quarter or in Mamilla.

What budget should we plan for a Jerusalem hotel?

Expect €250-450 per night in a 4-star, €600-1,200 in a palace (King David, Waldorf Astoria, Mamilla, David Citadel) and €150-280 in a 3-star. Prices peak around Passover, Sukkot, Rosh Hashanah and Hanukkah — availability tightens quickly, so it's wise to plan months ahead.

How do we reach Jerusalem from the airport?

Ben Gurion Airport is 45-60 minutes from Jerusalem. The fast train from the airport reaches Yitzhak Navon station in 30 minutes (about €5). A sherut (shared taxi) costs roughly €20 and drops you at your hotel directly. Elynor Tours can also arrange private French-speaking transfers — recommended for Shabbat and holidays.

Are there kosher hotels in Jerusalem?

Almost all hotels in Jerusalem are kosher (Rabbanut or Badatz, depending on the property). King David, Waldorf Astoria, Mamilla, David Citadel, Inbal and Leonardo Plaza run mehadrin kitchens. For Shabbat, check Shabbat lifts, hotplates and hot-water urns — we confirm this with the hotel before each booking.

When is the best time to visit Jerusalem?

March-May and September-November offer ideal weather (18-25°C, clear skies). Summer (June-August) is dry but hot (28-33°C by day, cool evenings). Winter (December-February) can be very cold with occasional snow — beautiful, but pack accordingly.
