Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before booking your hotel in Dead Sea.

Which area should we choose for a Dead Sea stay?

Ein Bokek concentrates almost all the major hotels (Herods, David, Crowne Plaza, Leonardo Plaza, Isrotel) with direct access to the Dead Sea and thermal spas. Further north, Ein Gedi offers a quieter, nature-focused alternative near the reserve. Avoid isolated hotels without private beach access: at the Dead Sea, direct water and spa access makes all the difference.

What budget should we plan for a Dead Sea hotel?

Expect €200-400 per night in a 4-star, €450-700 in a 5-star (Herods, David, Isrotel), €150-250 in a 3-star. Most stays include half-board or full board, which justifies a slightly higher budget than elsewhere in Israel. Peak seasons: Passover, Sukkot, October-March (perfect weather).

How do we reach the Dead Sea?

From Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, allow 1h30-2h by car. From Ben Gurion Airport, about 1h45 via Route 1 then 90. No train station or airport on site. Elynor Tours can arrange private French-speaking transfers, or a car rental to combine Dead Sea + Masada + Ein Gedi as a road trip.

Are there kosher hotels at the Dead Sea?

Yes: almost all Ein Bokek hotels are kosher (local Rabbanut, some mehadrin). Herods, David, Crowne Plaza, Leonardo Plaza, Isrotel, Daniel and Royal offer kosher half-board or full board with Shabbat features (lifts, hotplates, hot-water urns). Let us know which hechsher is required before booking.

When is the best time for the Dead Sea?

October-April offers ideal weather (20-28°C, clear skies). Summer (June-August) is extremely hot (38-42°C), best avoided unless you love dry heat. March-May is the most pleasant period with perfect temperatures for enjoying the saline water and thermal spas.
