Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before booking your hotel in Toronto.

Which neighborhood should I pick in Toronto?

Downtown / Financial District puts the CN Tower, Eaton Centre and the lakefront within walking distance — convenient for business and a first stay. Yorkville / Bloor-Yorkville is the most upscale district (Four Seasons Toronto, Hazelton, luxury boutiques) and home to a well-heeled Jewish community (Beth Tzedec). The Distillery District charms with Victorian flair, the Entertainment District suits nightlife, and the Annex offers a university feel. The Bathurst Street corridor, from St Clair up to North York, is the residential Jewish heartland (few hotels but extensive kosher services).

What budget per night by hotel category?

Plan around 120-200 EUR for a comfortable 3-star, 200-400 EUR for 4-star (Park Hyatt, Bisha, 1 Hotel) and 400-900 EUR for iconic 5-star addresses such as Four Seasons Toronto, Ritz-Carlton, Shangri-La, St Regis Toronto or Hazelton Yorkville. Prices are quoted in euros (CAD billed locally) and surge during TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival, early September, 2x rate).

How do I get downtown from YYZ airport?

Pearson (YYZ) is about 25 minutes from Downtown via the UP Express, which reaches Union Station in 25 minutes for 12.35 CAD (around 9 EUR). A taxi runs about 60-70 CAD (around 45 EUR). Toronto also has a small airport in the heart of downtown, Billy Bishop (YTZ), useful for regional flights. Private French-speaking transfers are available on request.

Is Toronto convenient for kosher travel and Shabbat?

Yes — Toronto hosts Canada's largest Jewish community (about 200,000), concentrated along Bathurst Street (from St Clair up to North York). Reference kosher restaurants include Marron, Café Sheli, Sassafraz, Aish and Center Street Deli. Major synagogues include Beth Tzedec (Yorkville/Forest Hill), Holy Blossom Temple and many Beth Habad centers. An eruv covers a large part of the city. For Shabbat, Yorkville or Bloor are the best hotel choices to remain within walking distance of shuls.

When is the best time to visit Toronto?

May to October offers the best conditions (15-28 degC), peaking June-August for terraces, the Harbourfront and the Toronto Islands. September delivers the TIFF buzz (and 2x hotel rates). Winter is harsh (often -10 degC), but the 30 km PATH underground network keeps you sheltered. October is gorgeous for the foliage drive to Niagara Falls (1h30 away).
