Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before booking your hotel in Bali.

Which area of Bali should we choose for our stay?

Seminyak and Canggu appeal to younger travellers thanks to their beaches, beach clubs and restaurants; Nusa Dua remains the calmest and most secure area, with all-inclusive five-star resorts ideal for families; Ubud, set among the rice terraces, suits spa, yoga and culture lovers; Jimbaran offers a middle ground with cliffside villas and seafood dinners on the sand. For first-time visitors we usually recommend combining Ubud with either Nusa Dua or Seminyak.

What budget should we plan for a hotel in Bali in 2026?

A decent three-star double room runs from 60 to 120 EUR per night; a good four-star with pool typically costs between 150 and 350 EUR; the iconic five-stars (Mulia Nusa Dua, Four Seasons Sayan, Bulgari Resort Uluwatu, AYANA) start around 400 EUR and can exceed 1,500 EUR for a private-pool villa. Rates rise sharply in July-August and over the Christmas-New Year window, and drop significantly during the low wet season.

How does the airport transfer from Denpasar (DPS) work?

Ngurah Rai International Airport (IATA code DPS) sits in Tuban, in the south of the island. Allow roughly 20 minutes to Jimbaran, 30 to 45 minutes to Seminyak and Nusa Dua depending on traffic, around an hour to Canggu and 1h30 to 2h to Ubud. We arrange a private air-conditioned car with an English-speaking driver (about 25 to 45 EUR to the south, 55 to 75 EUR to Ubud). Metered Bluebird taxis are the reliable local alternative.

Is there a Jewish community and any kosher option in Bali?

Bali has a Chabad House in Seminyak, run by Rabbi Loewenthal, offering services, Shabbat meals and holiday programmes (booking required). It is the main kosher resource on the island: there is no permanent kosher restaurant and no local kosher butcher. Many travellers bring part of their dry goods or order Chabad meal trays in advance; we can also guide you towards hotels that accept an outside cook or guests arriving with a food suitcase.

When is the best time of year to travel to Bali?

The dry season, from April to October, is the ideal window: clear skies, calmer seas and more bearable humidity. April-June and September-October strike the best balance between weather, crowds and pricing. Avoid January and February, the heart of the monsoon, with daily tropical downpours and heavy swell on the west coast. For the Jewish autumn holidays (Tishrei) and Pesach, rooms should be locked in several months ahead.
