Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before booking your hotel in Singapore.

Which area should you choose for a stay in Singapore?

Marina Bay is the most spectacular choice for a first visit: skyline views, Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands and easy access to the financial district. Orchard Road suits travelers focused on shopping and major hotels such as Shangri-La or St. Regis. Civic District and Fullerton Bay offer a more historic style, close to the Merlion, museums and the river. Sentosa is ideal for families with beaches, Universal Studios and resorts. Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar offer a more local atmosphere, with restaurants, temples and excellent MRT connections.

What budget should you plan for a hotel in Singapore?

Singapore is one of the most expensive hotel destinations in Southeast Asia. Three-star hotels often start around 120 to 220 euros per night. Well-located four-star hotels usually range from 250 to 500 euros. Five-star properties such as Marina Bay Sands, Raffles, Fullerton Bay, Capella Sentosa, Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons frequently range from 500 to 1400 euros depending on season, events and room category. Trade fairs and Formula 1 week can push rates sharply higher.

How do you get from Changi Airport to the city center?

Changi Airport is about 20 km from the center. The MRT connects the airport to City Hall, Raffles Place or Orchard with a transfer at Tanah Merah, taking roughly 35 to 50 minutes depending on the destination. An official taxi usually costs 25 to 45 SGD depending on time, surcharges and area. Grab and Gojek are widely used. For a hotel in Marina Bay, Orchard or Sentosa, a private transfer is comfortable after a long flight, especially with luggage or children.

Is Singapore suitable for families?

Yes. Singapore is one of the easiest Asian cities for a family trip: very safe, clean public transport, reliable taxis, varied restaurants and extremely well-organized attractions. Sentosa brings together Universal Studios, the aquarium, beaches and family resorts. Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jewel Changi are especially popular with children. Marina Bay and Orchard hotels are convenient for reducing travel time, while Sentosa is better for a resort-style stay.

What is the best time to visit Singapore?

Singapore can be visited year-round, with a hot and humid climate around 26 to 32C. February to April is often more comfortable for city sightseeing. November to January can be rainier, though showers are usually short. June and July attract travelers for sales and holidays. September is lively because of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, but hotel prices rise sharply. The key is to pack light clothing, choose a well-air-conditioned hotel and plan indoor breaks.
