The Sharon

All the information about Ya'ar Ha'Ilanot near Kadima Ya'ar Ha'Ilanot began its journey as a government facility for examining exotic trees in the landscape of the country, but over the years it turned into a tree museum (arboretum = botanical garden) under the auspices of the KKL. Entry to the park is free; it is open on days A–V during daylight hours. In its eastern part of (Road 4) there is a grove with about 750 species of trees. The place is very well maintained, clean, and welcoming. Walking is on paved paths, suitable also for people with limited walking ability. In the rear of the park there is a path of irises within groves of eucalyptus and Tabor oaks. The irises, of course, bloom around January–February (please check). In its western part (that is, the other side of Road 4) there is a eucalyptus grove with children's playground facilities. And of course (how could it be otherwise) there is also a shopping center, meaning that while the children are playing, then… they do shopping. (And thanks to the site friend "Hame'tzaml" ("The Photographer") for the riddle on the site and for the text.)

Sea legend: every legend told here, from the heart of the mound, sounds different. One of them, told among veteran sailors, says that from here one can see Neptune's chariot to the sea in Greek mythology. Those in the know say that the sea is rough for several days and does not calm. Toward sunset, after a continuous storm, along the horizon line, a chariot pulled by two white horses emerges, like a cloud. The chariot rises from the depths of the sea, with Neptune standing upon it, holding his trident in his hand. The two white horses race across the raging waters—where the chariot's wheels touch, the sea calms and rests. Then sharp-eyed observers discover the sea maidens, who emerge with singing—quietly, laughing—and play in the calm waters. The narrator swears that he sees all of this in advance from the amazing cliff, which sits in the Tel Gadur Nature Reserve, about 33 meters above the waves. The kurkar cliff and the reserve continue into the sea into a line of rocks on which the waves crash. This is the highest point in the area; the view from it is magnificent, but it requires only a light effort to climb up the steep path to the top of the kurkar hill. A spot worth having coffee outdoors while you're up at the top will wait for you: a concrete slab on which you can place the coffee setup/cafetiere. Along the way, in season, you can see the blooming of the sea lily (Chalaka) and in spring, the blooming of the coastal night lily. Below stretches one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, called—somehow—"the Chinese Beach" (it's not clear why the place is called that). If you decide to bring music, it's highly recommended that it be quiet, mournful music so it won't interfere with hearing the waves. Gadur Beach—on the descent from the Gadur path—there's a pristine and enchanting beach, surrounded by impressive cliffs that make it a hidden beach reminiscent of Thailand's beaches. The huge rocks blending with the clear turquoise waters turn Gadur Beach into a location. Want to find a quiet corner on the beach? Go right or left on the Gadur path above the beach, and you'll find points where you can descend to two empty, peaceful beaches. Gadur Beach. Photo: Aviv Betson

The Sharon

All the information about Herzliya Park Herzliya Park is one of the impressive parks in the Sharon area, attracting people every Saturday and holiday from throughout the central region. The park, connecting the two parts of Herzliya, spans 120 dunams and includes lawns, a barbecue area, a stage and a natural amphitheater, a lake, a natural winter puddle, designed drainage channels, and play facilities for toddlers, as well as play and adventure facilities for children, and more. The park enables urban rest for all ages, leisure and sports (with walking paths, a running track, and an area with fitness equipment), a picnic area, and an area that preserves the natural values existing in the area—especially the winter pond. The park's northern section is in fact a collection of paths that form Herzliya's winter puddle—the "Bassa" (a marsh in Arabic). The winter puddle is a habitat for various plants and animals, and the park developers have placed birdwatching hides for viewing birds, as well as additional viewing points. In the treetops of the park there are nest boxes used by songbirds, as well as bats of the type "white-edged mouse-eared bat," whose food consists of mosquitoes and other insects.

All the information about Argaman Lagoon Beach If you are looking for a maintained but quiet beach, Argaman (Lagoon) Beach in Netanya is the ultimate answer. Despite being located within the city, it is one of the quietest and least known beaches in the Sharon, enjoying high popularity among soldiers serving in nearby military facilities (Beit Feldman and Beit Goldminz). But with all due respect to this golden stretch of coastline and turquoise waters (and there is plenty of respect!), the real highlight here is the well-kept promenade overlooking the beach strip, offering a relaxed walk alongside green lawns and tall palm trees. During the bathing season there are lifeguard services, changing rooms, and toilets, along with shade facilities and beach equipment rental services. At the same time, a restaurant operates on the beach, and each year a triathlon competition is held here in Netanya. Lifesaving services on site operate from 8:30 until sunset. Accessibility arrangements: accessible parking—yes, in the lower parking lot accessible entrance—yes, access path to the water line—no, accessible toilets—no (regular toilets), accessible changing rooms—no, accessible shade shelter—no. The National Rescue Center for Sea Turtles

מרכז ההצלה הארצי לצבי ים

Hadera and Caesarea \ Herzliya and Netanya

All information about the National Rescue Center for Sea Turtles The National Rescue Center for Sea Turtles is the only hospital in the country that treats these remarkable marine reptiles in a dedicated manner. The facility has treatment and surgery rooms, as well as acclimation pools for turtles that are hospitalized there. The visitor center allows the general public to see the treatment of the turtles up close and to learn about the injuries with which they arrive at the center. Visitors learn how they themselves can reduce the damage caused, and what needs to be done when they see an injured turtle. In addition, the facility has a breeding nucleus for the green sea turtle, a species at risk of extinction whose past egg-laying in the country has declined to a single-digit number. The turtles in the facility arrived as patients at the rescue center; when it was not possible to return them to the sea, they built a large pool that simulates the sea. Next to it, they established a small and private beach where the hatchlings can lay eggs. The researchers collect the egg-layings and place them on different beaches around the country so that the hatchlings (this is what baby turtles are called) can reach the sea. The center first opened in 1999 at the Mevo'ot Yam school in Michmoret. Over the years, it has treated more than 7,000 sea turtles, and in addition, soft turtles, pond turtles, and even five dolphins. It was moved to its current location, near the mouth of the Alexandr River into the sea, during 2025 after the new building was constructed for it with an investment of about 30 million shekels. The National Rescue Center for Sea Turtles will be officially inaugurated in December 2025, and after that there will be a trial period until February during which visits cannot be scheduled. Then, an appointment system will open gradually in order to enable visits.

Herzliya Breakwater

שובר הגלים בהרצליה

All the information about the Herzliya Breakwater Location: the end of the Herzliya Marina breakwater. For the soul and coffee: walk on the water until the lighthouse and feel dry. A long promenade extends for a distance of 1.8 km in each direction. A long walk to the end of the pier; if the sea is calm, the place is definitely worth it. You're after the line of waves, and you can enjoy two worlds: you can both watch the waves crash against the pier and sip coffee. The sight of yachts entering the marina from the open sea adds an extra touch to the lovely view—you can see the mooring area and the masts, and how the sea waves are born and develop as they rush toward the shore. The promenade was prepared on the breakwater of the yacht marina. When to come: all year round.

The Sharon

All the information about Beit Rishonim Herzelia In the heart of Herzelia stands a remarkable building, and around it is a lush garden, a memento of the Zionist endeavor of the beginnings of Herzelia. In the Museum of the History of Herzelia, also called the Museum and Archive of Beit Rishonim, there are several exhibits on different topics. Herzelia, which began its days as a moshava, was founded on 26 Cheshvan 5685, 23 November 1924, and after a relatively orderly and planned development, it became a city in Israel on 11 April 1960. The museum was established in a house that was home to the family of Chiz'ik, which also had a botanical garden of fruit trees and plants from the Land of Israel that were planted by the family's father, who was an agronomist. In the garden, one can also see a collection of agricultural tools donated to the museum. On the house's terrace stands the figure of the State's visionary Dr. Binyamin Ze'ev Herzl, the spiritual father of the city, who in fact realized his vision with its establishment. The figure was designed based on the famous photograph "Herzl on the Hotel Balcony in Basel." The museum has a computerized archive with items, documents, pictures, and certificates from 1924 to 1960. In addition, there is an auditorium with 50 seats in which lectures and conferences are held, also for a symbolic fee, and in the garden various activities take place such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, as well as various events throughout the year. Opening hours: The garden is open free of charge on days A–V between 08:00–13:00, and on days A–H between 16:00–19:30.

5.0
The Sharon

Enjoy self-picking in the embrace of nature—yours too, and even for the children—to rest and relax on Shabbat! Come to us for a day dedicated entirely to nature in a magical, interesting, and special place unlike any other orchard. Bring a mat, spread it under the trees in your favorite spot around the grounds, and enjoy a special experience of picking delicious, healthy citrus fruit full of vitamin C: clementines, oranges, grapefruits, lemons, and more. What awaits you with us in the orchard? Citrus fruit picking for the whole family: Our main attraction is self-picking, which takes place every year between the months of November and January. You're welcome to check our Facebook page, where we post every week which citrus fruits are included in the picking from the variety we have: yellow and red grapefruits, lemons, oranges, blood oranges, and clementines. There's no time limit for you, and you're more than welcome to spend a day of fun in the grounds with picking, a walk through the orchard, and a family picnic. Photo: Courtesy of Razi Farm, Kfar Neter Winning tips for successful picking: • Come with comfortable, high walking shoes. • Bring an umbrella and a coat (if there's any concern of rain). • Bring a mat and something to snack. • Walk through the picking area and look for the tree with the prettiest fruit. • Pick according to the guidance instructions. • Be careful with your eyes and hands during picking—some branches have thorns and sharp edges. • The place is accessible for children's strollers with large wheels, but it's recommended to come with a back carrier instead of a stroller. Special activities in the grounds: The Race for a Lemon: A fun enrichment game through which we learn together about the fruit trees in the orchard. How does it work? All you need to bring is a smartphone and lots of good mood. With the smartphone, you scan the QR code on the first tree, and then you receive information and pictures about that tree. Inside the information page is hidden the name of the next tree you need to find in the orchard, along with additional hints. The goal is to stroll and locate trees throughout the orchard, and enrich your knowledge about them in the style of the game—"treasure hunt." Photo: Courtesy of Razi Farm, Kfar Neter Our story and the orchard Everything began with Grandpa Buska, who planted our orchard in 1949 and established a home and a flourishing estate. With the aim of producing tastier and better varieties of citrus fruit, in the 1960s he began experiments with citrus groves and developed the clementine variety "Michal," which to this day is considered one of the tastiest and most well-known varieties. Our orchard is not a typical orchard, and it was never a commercial orchard; its trees are old, and its varieties are different and diverse. We started the picking business in 2012 in order to preserve the glorious legacy of the orchard that he left us, and we cultivate the orchard ourselves without external workers—real Hebrew labor—growing fruit like in the past, with an emphasis on taste rather than size. Liberal Coffee Cart in Kfar Neter After the picking—or before it—you can enjoy great coffee and wonderful food. The Liberal Coffee Cart sits in the center of Kfar Neter and offers a magical rural atmosphere among the shade of the trees. In the place you'll find bar seating tables, regular tables spread throughout the grounds, mats for a more relaxed seating, and also toys scattered around the grounds for the little ones.
