Starting in 2021, an intense battle took place between the state and thousands of Jerusalem activists regarding the character of the hill, after it was decided to convert the hill into a police compound. Unlike other cases, the end of the Lookout Hill was good and optimistic, when in August 2023 the state announced that it would examine an alternative location for building the police station that threatened the charming nature site.
