Jerusalem Park - Playing with Stone

About

All the information about Jerusalem Park - Playing with Stone. The garden of playing includes large stone games that bring home board games into the garden, nature, and the landscape within the grounds of Jerusalem Park. The sculpture garden of stone games aims to provide an answer for visitors to Jerusalem Park in the Yekev Ha'ezim Valley area, and allows them to spend time on site by playing in groups and individually over a wide, shady area, through the placement of the games over a broad area at ground level and on the ground. The game boards and individual stations are accompanied by illustrations and texts that enrich the information about the place—its animal and plant life—and sentences that characterize the environment and Jerusalem Park. In the playground there is a route about 900 meters long, defined by 35 marked boulders, which serve as trail markers around the garden, and it passes through the spring area and a section of the stream. On each stone there is a question whose answer leads to the next question, like a circular chain of content with no point of beginning and no point of end. The average distance between the stones is about 25 meters. The large stone games invite closeness to the place and contact with the ground. They encourage movement in space—wandering, jumping, hopping, and walking. The games operate using game tools that must be collected on site, such as stones, leaves, and branches, or the hiker and returning visitor will bring tools from home. Next to the large stone games, on a "salon" table of "princes," there are nine games for those who want to rest. As part of the development of the games, a stone called "Station" was created. This is a stone shaped like a cone, on which appear the Station's name and general information about it, as well as game instructions. Its special structure replaces the game cubes—throw a stone into the cone; the stone rolls into a channel that circles the cone, then falls and stops on a number of luck. The games throughout Jerusalem Park are for the benefit of hikers, visitors, groups, for team-building activities, and for residents living in the Jerusalem metropolitan area. Large stone games are located in the heart of the reserve as part of the Etz Erez Valley Park, which is a link in Jerusalem Park. The playground was established based on the treasure-hunting concept of Avivit Gera—curator of Jerusalem Park. Sculpture and design of the stone games by Yael Calderon and Ofer Kottler; consultation and guidance for the games by Hadva Lehav.
