About

All the information about the Gilad Shalit Trail: not long ago, members of the Shalit family and the Gilad Shalit army decided on a new initiative— the Gilad Shalit Trail. This is a trail that in practice runs along the Jerusalem Trail, which was inaugurated a few years ago. But unlike the Jerusalem Trail, the markings are better. The trail can also be done by anyone who does the Israel Trail, since there is overlap. The route begins at Ein Handak, near Moshav Even Sapir, close to Hadassah Ein Kerem, where there is also space to park one vehicle, and ends in Rehavia at the Gilad Shalit tent near the Prime Minister's Residence, where it is possible to park an additional vehicle. The route follows the path of the Jerusalem Trail: blue–white–gold, with an lion symbol, and blue–white marking in the area as well, and of course yellow arrows written on them: "Gilad Shalit route." From Ein Handak, the route climbs to Ein Kerem itself, and from there, through the Jerusalem Forest marked blue–white, to Mount Herzl. From Mount Herzl it goes through Beit HaKerem and Giv'at Ram toward the Ganim Gardens (Roses Gardens). From there, via Gan Sacher, to Rehavia toward 'Aza Street. On 'Aza Street you can continue straight to the encampment, or make a small detour via Rada"k Street and reach the encampment from behind.
