Alexandroni Memorial

About

All the information about the Alexandroni Memorial. On the top of a hill in the Kula forest stands the Alexandroni memorial in memory of the fighters of the Alexandroni Brigade, who fell in the War of Independence in the battles of "Kula." In the War of Liberation, the village of Kula served as part of the outpost system of the Jordanian Legion. During Operation Dani, it was decided to capture the area, and the 89th Battalion of the Alexandroni Brigade was assigned the mission; in the end it succeeded in capturing the village and the hills that dominate the area on July 10, 1948. In the following days, several battles took place between IDF forces and the Jordanian Legion forces, during which the village was taken by the Legion and, in a counterattack, was recaptured by the IDF. During the battles, 32 fighters fell: 28 of them from the 32nd Battalion (in whose name the Kakh (כ"ח) memorial is named) and four from the 33rd Battalion.
