All the information about the Al-Jazzar Mosque. The famous and most important mosque in Acre is the monumental Al-Jazzar Mosque. The mosque was inaugurated in 1781, according to an inscription above the entrance to the mosque, bearing the name of Ahmed Al-Jazzar, the governor of Acre at that time. According to the belief, in the Al-Jazzar Mosque there are hairs from the Prophet Muhammad's beard, which strengthens the sanctity of the place for Islam.
