Which area should I choose to stay in Mykonos?

Mykonos Town (Chora) is the lively heart of the island, with whitewashed lanes, Little Venice and the nightlife: ideal for travellers who enjoy the buzz. Ornos and Platis Gialos suit families, with calm beaches and accessible hotels. Psarou is the chic, glamorous spot, a stone's throw from Nammos. Elia has the longest beach on the island in a quieter setting. Agios Ioannis is famous for its sunset views over Delos. Most areas are 10-20 minutes apart by taxi.

What budget should I plan for a hotel in Mykonos?

Mykonos is an expensive destination in high season. Upper-tier 3-star hotels run from 200 to 400€ per night in July-August. Four-star properties sit between 400 and 900€. Five-star hotels range from 900 to 3,000€ and beyond for iconic addresses such as Cavo Tagoo, Belvedere, Bill & Coo, Mykonos Blu and Santa Marina. Out of season (May, early June, late September, October), rates can be cut by two-thirds, which is excellent value to enjoy the island in peace.

How do I reach my hotel from Mykonos airport?

JMK Airport is only 4 km from Mykonos Town, around 10 minutes by taxi (about 30€ in high season). Most 4- and 5-star hotels offer a private shuttle or VIP car transfer. The public KTEL bus also serves the centre for a few euros. To reach Ornos, Platis Gialos or Psarou, allow 15-25€ by taxi. In summer it is wise to book the transfer in advance because taxis are scarce and waits can be long.

Are there kosher options and a Chabad House in Mykonos?

Mykonos has no permanent Jewish community or Chabad House. During the high season, Chabad Athens occasionally organises services and kosher meals, especially around the Jewish holidays. Several upmarket hotels such as Cavo Tagoo and Mykonos Blu can serve kosher meals on request, with ingredients sourced in advance. For a strict Shabbat stay, it is easier to combine Mykonos with a stop in Athens (Beth Shalom synagogue, Gostijo restaurant). We can coordinate kosher meals delivered from Athens if needed.

When is the best time to visit Mykonos?

June and September are the optimal months: ideal weather (25-30°C), warm sea, lively atmosphere without the July-August crowds. July and August remain the peak for parties, beach clubs and nightlife, but with the highest prices (often tripled) and heavy crowds. May and October offer excellent value, although some restaurants and hotels start closing after mid-October. In winter, the island slows right down.
