Which area should I choose to stay in Rhodes?

The medieval Old Town of Rhodes, a UNESCO site, is unique: you sleep within walking distance of the Palace of the Grand Masters and the Street of the Knights. Mandraki, the modern harbour, is convenient for shops and restaurants. Ixia, on the west coast, hosts large resorts but is windy. Ialyssos is more family-friendly, while Kallithea and Faliraki concentrate the seaside hotels on the east coast. For an authentic stay, Lindos, an hour to the south-east, charms with its whitewashed village, acropolis and small coves.

What budget should I plan for a hotel in Rhodes?

Three-star hotels run from 80 to 180€ per night depending on the season. Four-star properties range from 180 to 400€, with strong options such as the Sheraton Rhodes and the Lindos Mare. Five-star hotels go from 400 to 900€ and beyond for the Rodos Park (Old Town), the Atrium Prestige and the Mitsis Grand. July and August remain the most expensive months, with strong demand on the beaches. May-June and September-October provide excellent value with a still-warm sea.

How do I reach my hotel from Rhodes airport?

Diagoras Airport (RHO) is 15 km from Rhodes Town, about 20 minutes by taxi (around 25€). To reach Lindos, allow 1 hour and 60-80€ by taxi. The public KTEL bus links the airport to town for a few euros, but frequencies vary. Most resorts offer paid shuttles. We can arrange a private English- or French-speaking transfer for families or groups, particularly useful in high season or when heading to Lindos.

Is there a synagogue and kosher options in Rhodes?

Kahal Shalom Synagogue, in La Juderia (the Jewish quarter of the Old Town), is the oldest in Greece, in continuous use since 1577. A Holocaust Memorial on the Square of the Jewish Martyrs commemorates the 1944 deportation. The community today is very small and there is no permanent Chabad House nor a fixed kosher restaurant on the island. For a Shabbat stay, hotels such as Kókkini Porta Rossa or Marco Polo Mansion, located in the Old Town, allow you to walk to the synagogue. Kosher meals can be arranged on request, delivered or prepared on site.

When is the best time to visit Rhodes?

May-June and mid-September to late October are the ideal windows: temperatures of 24-30°C, pleasant sea and reasonable crowds. July and August are hot (32-38°C) and very busy, but perfect for swimming. April already offers beautiful light for visiting the Old Town and Lindos without the crowds. Winter remains mild, but most seaside hotels close from November to March: only the Old Town and Rhodes Town stay lively all year round.
